Today, I want to share some tips on mastering the verbal section. I will focus today on the part which consumes 1/3rd of Verbal section i.e. Reading comprehension or RC. As you might know there are 9 - 11 questions that come on RC. If you are good at this then you can get all correct.
To master RC takes time but when you get a hang of the section you can solve almost every question asked in CAT. Nothing can help you than reading almost every things that is there in front of you in your day. Start reading stuff. Newspapers, online material, editorials, any books. Read from diverse backgrounds and fields. Do not focus on one area like politics or history. Read philosophy articles, physics, law, read from everywhere, so that if a RC passage comes from some topic or area you are not familiar with till now, you will not feel very confused while finding answers to it,a dn you will be familiar with the style of writing too.
There is not other short-cut Get addicted to reading. And slowly you will see your reading speed and vocabulary will improve. Keep a notebook to write down some new words you find and there meaning. There is a book to build vocabulary "Word Power Made Easy" by Norman Lewis. You can get it online too.
